Episode 034 - Letting Go of Limiting Beliefs About Money w/ Diania Merriam of EconoMe Conference

We were so excited to catch up with Diania, since talking with her for one of our very first episodes all the way back in season 1 of the podcast.

You won’t want to miss this conversation. There are so many juicy nuggets we can all relate to and learn from.

In this episode, we dig deep into:

  • The shocking changes in Diania’s life since the pandemic
  • Why she’s drastically changed her life and how she’s coping
  • Limiting beliefs around money
  • All the mental hurdles standing in the way of making EconoMe Conference being profitable
  • The wound of unworthiness at the core of these limiting beliefs about money
  • How Chris is able to feel more abundant with money
  • Learning to write better money stories through
    1. awareness
    2. detachment
    3. intentionally rewriting/telling ourselves better stories
  • All about the EconoMe Conference–guests, breakout sessions, Cincinatti tours, and why Diania calls it a party about money.

Diania’s inspiring quote from this episode:

“What if our abundance was linked, and [attendees] are only going to experience the greatness of the event if I can allow that abundance to flow to me…because, really, the more time and energy I can put into EconoMe, the grander the event it could be. If I stop that flow, I’m suffocating the growth of the business.”

This conversation with Diania for the podcasts reminded me of Laura McKowen’s words:

“And here is the thing we must know about our things if we are ever going to survive them. We believe we can bury them, when the truth is, they’re burying us. They will always bury us eventually.” – We Are the Luckiest

If worthiness is the wound at the core–and make no mistake, it is the wound at the core for so many of us–it will show up again and again in seemingly unrelated and unexpected ways.

After all, as Carl Jung says, “Until we make the unconscious conscious, it will direct our lives and we’ll call it fate.”

The real question for us all here, that Diania so graciously and bravely helped to point out in this episode, is:

Where might this worthiness wound be showing up in our own lives?

  • Money
  • Relationships
  • Job/Career choices

Where are we staying stuck because, ultimately, we’re afraid to address it, because we think we can bury it.

We make no light of this work at Go Bucket Yourself. It is cumbersome. It can feel deep and dark. It should not be done alone (seek help & support from professionals, friends, communities like this one), but there is a light at the end of it–a lightness even–with far less burden to carry or bury.

Ultimately, the truth is simply the truth. Through excavating it, perhaps we may find new light, fresher air, a new path.

May you dig deep today, friends, deep enough to find the places you may have buried some of your most painful wounds. Beneath those, in that core of your being, may you find the inherent worthiness your soul arrived with, the worthiness that’s always been there, just by being here. You are worthy just as you are, just as you’ve always been. May you start there today–worthiness. And may you find that it leads to something much greater than you ever could have imagined otherwise.
